How Many Keyboards Does It Take?

To make an author...

How many keyboards and how many mice? Well, for me, since I have a bad habit of eating peanut butter and jelly toast over my keyboards and writing area, I’ve been going through about one a year. Mice, too!

This is a picture of my last four keyboards, all of which took a pounding, not only from the food, but with how hard I type! The white one was made for Macs, but, alas, the keys rattled and kept falling off, and the help center for that particular brand wasn’t very useful. In the end, I gave up. (I think I have three others floating around somewhere, all bound for electronic recycling as soon as it stops snowing!)

All of my mice, currently, are Logitech 510s. I had a string of blue ones, and now I’m using a red one; they’re lovely and dependable but again, if I eat while I’m at my desk, they can get jam on their little plates and in the wheel and don’t want to work any more. It’s a treat when I can get a new one, usually about one a year, like the keyboards.

My current keyboard is a gamer keyboard that goes by the name of “Das Keyboard,” and oddly my little red Logitech 510 mouse matches it! Since I want both of these to last more than a year, I’m trying to keep my keyboard and mouse, both, free of food and crumbs! (Looks like I’m failing already!)

I’ve done my best since I got the Das Keyboard to keep my writing area looking professional. It went from this:

To this:

While I know that pretty arrows do not a bullseye make, I feel better when the chaos is kept down to a dull roar. If I eat while watching Netflix on my computer or whatnot, I take my food to my green comfy chair, which is draped in towels so I don’t stain it with pizza grease or whatever!

And the answer is: as many as it takes!
